Becoming A Profitable Beauty Business

Becoming a Profitable Beauty Business

There has always been, and always will be, a demand for beauty and personal grooming services and products. Always. Look back throughout history, and you can see famous trends from hundreds of years ago - like Queen Cleopatra, a famous example with the black, winged eyeliner this is STILL worn regularly today.

People have undertood, even long ago, the importance of looking your best and the correlation between how you look and your level of confidence, and ultimately, how you present yourself to the world and how the world perceives you. Showing up in any situation as your most confident self - can lead to (at the least) turning heads when you walk in the room, to (at the most) making powerful connections in your network that can change the trajectory of your business (or career for non-entrepreneurs).

By recognizing these important, factual details, I can’t help but wonder - why there are so many beauty professionals that still struggle with pricing their services? I know this because I’ve been this person. Also, I’ve seen many beauty professionals struggle with this.

Some service providers provide consistent results, and get the job done well. Other beauty service providers practically work magic from behind their styling chair! I do believe there is a spectrum of pricing to consider that is based on many factors, such as; skill level, years of experience, location, demographics, specialty services, cost of higher end products being used, etc.

There are clients that just want their hair shorter, and there are salons and barbershops that will do that, and do it well. There are other clients that expect the most refined, expert-level execution of the service, and for such a service, the price should reflect that.

Where you position yourself, your business, and the pricing of your services on that spectrum is entirely up to you. Also, I would never say one is better than the other - but the spectrum exists to serve different people with different solutions and all are necessary.

I wrote a short ebook called "Pricing Like A Pro" for beauty professionals to get more knowledge and confidence around their pricing structures in their beauty businesses. If you're interested in getting a copy, you can access it here:

There are a few key concepts to consider when outlining your pricing for longevity and success in your business. Part 2 will be much more specific - and will only be released if there is enough demand for it.

Your beauty biz has to be profitable in order to be successful. Let's get you on the right path.
